Peakview Minis was established in 2003, a
year after getting our first miniature. Our first mini was
JT, an unregistered Thelwell-type mini that my daughter, Kelsey
then age 11, saved up her money to buy for $325. We were
living in Colorado at the time on 16 acres in the shadow of
Pike's Peak. I was busy showing hunter/jumpers on the A
circuit and Kelsey had a Welsh/TB pony that she showed.
The last thing I wanted was a "lawn ornament" that was too small
to ride. JT quickly changed my mind about miniatures.
I had never seen a more adaptable and tolerant horse, of any
size. JT submitted to being dragged around the property,
learning to jump over anything Kelsey could devise to put in his
path, he learned to "drive" with a jury-rigged lead shank
contraption that ended in a kid's wagon or sled (weather
depending). His job was to pull the manure buckets (full)
to the manure pile and then bring them back after they were
emptied. I still remember when the sled got going faster than
JT and those manure buckets bounced around like crazy. He
ran back to the barn in record time!

After a year, my parents, Bill and Nancy Stevens, decided to get
out of the cattle business and into miniatures. That's
when Peakview Minis officially came into being. We
purchased 4 horses from Hallmark Miniatures and 1 from Thousand
Oaks Ranch. We were on our way! We later purchased
horses from Los Arboles, High Country Miniatures, Black Squirrel
Ranch, Mountain Meadows, McCabe Training Center, Cherryville
Farms, El Rancho Loco, Zarzuela, Rocking M, etc.

We currently stand 2 stallions at stud, both Multiple World and National Champion horses. We breed on a very limited basis producing only a few foals a year. Our show string usually comprises of 5 or 6 top quality AMHA, AMHR, and/or ASPC horses. To date our horses have won 16 World and National Championships and numerous Top Tens!!

In 2006, we moved to Granbury, TX, which is 35 miles SW of Fort
Worth. We have a beautiful 70 acre farm with 3 ponds,
wonderful coastal hay, and a barn with cameras, rubber mats, and
automatic waterers. We also have a separate visiting mares
facility that is completely apart from the other horses.
We want to produce a few, high quality foals per year. Our
emphasis is on quality, not quantity. Our goal is to
produce winning driving and halter horses with the exotic, Arab
look that is so prized in the show ring.

Since 2003, we have attended every AMHA World show and every AMHR National since 2006. Kelsey emphasizes halter, while I prefer the driving arena with the occasional foray into the halter world. This diversity allows us to concentrate on our particular strengths and still produce a versatile show horse. Our trainer, Lyn Yung of Scot Free Stables, shows our horses in both arenas as well.
We usually have some horses for sale, both made show horses and upcoming stars. Our stallions have 100% conception rates and have the temperament necessary to be both successful show horses and sires. We invite you to browse through our site and look at our horses. Please let us know if we can help you in any way.
